U.S. Commission of Fine Arts expresses strong support for public park at AFRH

The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, which held a March 20, 2008 advisory review hearing on the AFRH Master Plan, made the following finding (click here to see it on their website):

"...[T]he Commissioner Members continued to question the character and intensity of development proposed for this spectacular physical resource in the city. They voiced particular concern for the development proposed for [areas along the property's western perimeter], commenting that the loss of what has historically been a green landscape would be detrimental to the character of the campus and the adjacent neighborhood; they supported the community and public agency recommendations that these areas would best be park land that is accessible to the public."
